First developped in 1993, Crystal is a triploid varierty bred by the USDA from Hallertau mittlefrueh, Cascade, Northern Brewer amd Early Green. It is spicier than Hallertau with hints of cinnamon, black pepper and nutmeg.

First developped in 1993, Crystal is a triploid varierty bred by the USDA from Hallertau mittlefrueh, Cascade, Northern Brewer and Early Green. It is spicier than Hallertau with hints of cinnamon, black pepper and nutmeg. 

When used in higher quantities, Crystal can become more pungent with notes of lime, orange peel and lemon grass. It may contribute slight noble spice elements along with possible floral/fruit whispers of apricot and chamomile blossom.
